Our little water babies

The boys took 3 weeks worth of swimming lessons a few weeks ago. They both did wonderful! Sawyer cried/screamed for the first three classes. He was almost comical to watch because he acted like he hated it so much. The funny thing is that as soon as we got done he would say, "That fun!" In the end he learned to love jumping off the side into the pool and climbing back out. He also likes to go underwater. He doesn't really have any interest in kicking or paddling but at least he enjoys it now.

Charlie on the other hand LOVED every second of the lessons from the moment we walked in the door. It didn't matter that the water was FREEZING and his lips were shivering through a good chunk of the 45 minutes.

Charlie's teacher has been teaching swimming lessons for 48 years. She is fabulous! Charlie calls her "Grandma Brady" because it is his friend, Brady's grandma. :) She adored Charlie also. I had to laugh because every time I looked at Charlie he was talking non-stop to either his teacher or the kids around him. He never stops talking!!! (Wonder where he gets that from???? hmmm..) :)

Charlie did so well in his swimming that his teacher promoted him to Level 2 for next year. Most of the kids stay in Level 1 for a couple times but not Super Star Charlie! Move over Michael Phelps!
We took the boys swimming yesterday to a friends' house and I couldn't believe what all Charlie could do. He immediately jumped "dived" in (with a swim belt on) and put his whole head underwater and started kicking and paddling like crazy. I was amazed at how much he progressed. Ben even let him swim for a bit without the swim belt and he dropped to the bottom of the pool and paddled back up to the top by himself.

Ben was a good sport and swam with Sawyer for most of his classes so I didn't have to subject the other spectators to my large belly.

The boys will be starting classes again in 2 weeks. They are every morning for 2 weeks. It will be pretty intense but so good for them. I can't wait to see how much farther they come after these classes are done.
