Faux Hawk

I gave in and started styling Brooks' hair in a "faux hawk" this week. I have people constantly ask me if I gave him his Mohawk on purpose. Of course not!!! Who would purposely give a 7 month old a real Mohawk?!?!? At least I hope someone wouldn't do that. Anyway... I put gel in it and styled it and I have to say he looks pretty cute with it that way. :)
The rare smile/laugh out of Brooks. He is normally so serious!
Flexing for mama.

Look at those muscles!

This little piggy went to market...
Oh and this is what the big boys were doing to make Brooks smile. Racing! They love racing back and forth in the front lawn. Looks like Ben is winning this round. Sawyer's posture cracks me up in this picture.

Congratulations to Holly and Auntie Mal-Mal for guessing the correct answers on the pictures in the last post! I put the correct answers in the post so you can go back to see who is who.
Hope you are all enjoying this hot weather. For a girl who was raised with a full sized pool the blow-up kiddy pool is not cutting it! The sprinkler has been running full force for the last few days. We are happy that the 2009-2010 school year is officially done. Ben still has to work most of the summer but his hours will be a lot less.
Enjoy the holiday weekend!

By the way, going on blogger/fb sabbatical was no fun but much needed! I confess to cheating a few times. I couldn't resist looking at a blog with the title, "It's a..." I mean come on, can you blame me!?!? and I did check fb a few times since a friend added her belly pics to her page that I took. I wanted to see them! Anyway... I am thinking another sabbatical may be in order soon but for now I am happy to be back.

Here are a few pics I took today after church. I am sooo.... excited that I finally got Photoshop this week. I am scared to death of it but can't wait to finally learn how to use it. I am pumped to take my photography to the next level!!!!

And Ben practicing his photography skills...

Best friends

Sawyer and Brooks are such great friends. This is how I find them almost every morning. Sawyer wakes up at the crack of dawn and goes and climbs in Brooks' crib. It is irritating and adorable all at the same time. It is annoying since he wakes Brooks up but also so sweet that he can't wait to see his baby brother first thing in the morning.
Here is Sawyer reading to Brooks. Notice how sleepy Brooks looks!?!?
Now that is cute!!
And here is Sawyer trying to show me Brooks' teeth. Poor baby!
Oh there they are!
I love my boys so much.
On that note... I am going on a blogging and facebook sabbatical for 7 days. (Seems pathetic I know) I am way too addicted and I need to get my priorities straight right now in my life.
I will still be checking email and working on belly/baby pics so if you need something email but other than that.... ta ta friends until next Sunday.

What Brooks wants... Brooks gets!

"Saw It. Wanted It. Told Auntie Mal-Mal. Got It!"

My sister in law Malorie made this shirt at my baby shower for Charlie. All three of the boy's have worn it.
This time Brooks wanted something REALLY special and he is getting it!
I won't tell you exactly what it is. For that you will have to head over to East Coast Tonagels to find out.
I will give you a few hints though.

1. I cried like a baby when I found out. Seriously I couldn't stop. (Actually I am crying now while typing.)
2. Family functions are going to be really crazy in the near future.
3. I get to take pictures this fall of an adorable girl.

hmmm... I wonder what it was that Brooks wanted? Maybe a new cousin????? :)

Mother's Day

We enjoyed a nice Mother's Day weekend. Here is Charlie and I at his Mom's tea for preschool. He picked out our outfits for the night. It was pretty funny since I was basically the only mom there wearing a dress. Everyone else just had on jeans and a nice shirt. Not us! :) Charlie made me earrings and a bracelet and a picture frame with pictures of him and his handwriting.

On Sunday we spent the day with our families at a state park. It was fun to be outside all afternoon. We ate lunch, played cornhole, ate some more, went for a bike ride, ate a snack, took the boys to the playground and then ate a little more. :)

Three generations

My niece Cassidy and Charlie
My brother Kip and Brooks
My mom and three of her six grandsons.
Hope you all enjoyed a nice Mother's Day!

Prom Night Flashback

All of my favorite wedding photographers always start off their  posts with fabulous shots of the bride's shoes and accessories. Here is my hillbilly attempt at my prom shoes and handbag. I was excited to have a reason to use my Christmas gift from Meg (Coach bag) and Charlie helped me pick out these extremely uncomfortable shoes.  (Notice the annoying dog in the background??)

Ben and I drove separate to the prom this year so that he could stay to help with clean-up. I had to leave at 9:30. Next year, I am staying late and he can be the responsible one for the night. I wanted to stay and party!
We had a really fun time getting all dressed up and eating dinner with some friends. We even got "real" prom pictures taken!

After pictures it was dancing time!!!!! Here is Darcy showing off some of her moves. Please forgive me Darcy! I couldn't resist. :)

Where is Ben???? Oh there he is standing FAR away from the dance floor and cringing as I yelled, "Honey! Mr. Tonagel! I'm over here!" Poor guy. He didn't stand a chance. He knew I was determined to embarrass him.

And here was one of my favorite parts of the night. (Pardon the terrible copy. We don't have a scanner so I just took a picture. Pretty pathetic I know!) A few of us "Walkin' it out on the dance floor." So fun!!!!
And while we are on a prom kick. I pulled out my old photo albums and found these pictures. Here we are at our first formal together- GR 1997. I was 16 and Ben was 18. We look about 10 though! Don't we look like the epitome of an awkward high school couple!?!?
And here we are at Ben's Senior Prom- 1997. He was Prom King!!! Hah!

Hope you all had a great weekend. We are busy this month with a lot of school functions.
